A Super Scooper Moving Sand

A Super Scooper Moving Sand

A super scooper moving sand,
will lend this town a helping hand.
The mounds of grains moved from the beach
are not beyond this bucket's reach.

The town folk gathered for the show –
a super scooper moving sand.
They watched the truck move to and fro,
and brought a snappy marching band.

The engine roared and spit black smoke.
They watched the monster take its stand –
a super scooper moving sand –
until that mammoth coughed and choked.

They shrieked in horror, shrank in fright.
They watched their titan scratch and fight –
until at last it grabbed the land –
a super scooper moving sand.

A photograph of a land mover sitting on top of reconstituted dunes in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The poem is a quatern. The muse is Dr. Seuss and P. D. Eastman. This time, I think I nailed the iambic tetrameter.

Guess you could drop the second 'they' in line 13, and then it rumbles along perfectly.
We are refurbishing our pond and could do with an hour of that machine :-)
