The Wind-Driven Sand

The Wind-Driven Sand

like tufts of skin
the wind-driven sand
gently mounds

The truth will find you.

Your Pressured Stance Won't Change My Mind

b2ap3_thumbnail__TK56609retouched01_1280.JPG

Your Pressured Stance Won't Change My Mind

[ Perhaps Adagio to Pizzicato. Act I ]

Your pressured stance won't change my mind:
it does no good to threaten me.
Beyond this mast, a hostile sea,
I think you've found yourself a bind.

So put away your steel-edged sword.
your pressured stance won't change my mind.
There are these things you can't afford
when block and tackle troops unwind.

These worldly things have made you blind:
you lust for blood, you lust for gold.
Your pressured stance won't change my mind:
this mockery that I behold.

Uncross your eyes from thoughts confined
to arrogance devoid of might.
What violence will this act incite?
Your pressured stance won't change my mind.

The poem might fit into Adagio's Tale.

With the Wind Behind Me

With the Wind Behind Me

with the wind behind me
I can do anything
I am as mighty as the mighty sea

Those who withhold the right to question are often hiding something.

Yesterday's Passing

Yesterday's Passing

given time
the moon and sea
carves a shell
to sand

Freud presents an interesting, if not inaccurate, retelling of Classical Greek thought. He lacked the tools to study the biology of the brain, and settled for psychoanalytic theory. His intellectual excursion gets misconstrued by some as truth.

A photograph of a beach. The shells stand in the sand, and the tides and waves drag about them.

The Sea

The Sea:
a roaring mouth
with a tender tongue

Count the number of things that can be turned to harm or help.

Beyond the Wood and Wire

Beyond the Wood and Wire

beyond the wood and wire waits
nature's holy magistrate
the fool's of man now demonstrate
these things oft better left to fate

All too often what takes years to build is dispatched in a moment.

Beach Path in Snow

Beach Path in Snow

the magic of this day wears on
the path before me winds away
the harness of a passing light
dappled black and gray

Each day brings a different path, even when it is the same path.

The Sand Etches Memories

The Sand Etches Memories

drifting wood, drifting lives:
blown by an onshore breeze-
the sand etches memories
into a block of wood

Offshore heads towards the sea; onshore, towards the land.

A photograph of driftwood washed up upon a beach.
